Profile Picture of Guy.Guy Gross is one of Australia's leading film and television composers and recipient of the APRA/AGSC International Achievement Award, considered the most prestigious accolades for an Australian screen composer.

From his British Academy Award (BAFTA) nominated score to the international hit "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" to the US hit SCI-FI series "Farscape", his film scores cover a huge variety of styles. Testament to this diversity, Guy has received numerous peer awards from the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) and The Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA) including awards for; Best Music for a Documentary, Children's Series, Short film, Animation, Promotional Video, Advertisement, TV Theme and twice for Best Music for a TV Series.

Over his 25 year career, Guy has composed music for many hundreds of hours of television, including dramatic mini series, children's animation, documentaries, commercials and a number of Australian feature films. His film music has underscored the acting performances of Toni Collette, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Garry McDonald, Molly Ringwald, Kylie Minogue, Phil Collins and Guy Pearce and his scores have been performed in concert by the Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland Symphony Orchestras.

His works include scores for the tele-movies: A Model Daughter - The Killing of Caroline Byrne, Joanne Lees: Murder in the Outback, Scorched, and documentaries: The Howard Years, The Prime Minister is Missing and Who Killed Dr Bogle and Mrs Chandler?

Guy began film scoring while studying classical composition at the Conservatorium High School in Sydney, Australia. Son of film producers Yoram and Sandra Gross, Guy began by composing music for the family animation business while still in High School and has continued to score many of the companies feature and television projects.

In 1992 Guy scored his first feature film, "Frauds" directed by Stephan Elliott for whom Guy went on to score his next two features including the international hit "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" in 1994. In the following year, Guy composed his award winning score to the ABC TV series "Bordertown" for Knapman Wyld Television for whom he has recently composed the score for the award winning TV Series "East West 101".

In 1999 Guy received the award for Best Music at the Tropicana Film Festivals (Tropfest) for his score to that year’s winning short film"Uno Amore". That year, Guy also composed the score to the horror feature film "Cut" starring Molly Ringwald and Kylie Minogue for Mushroom Pictures and in 2000 began scoring the hit Sci-Fi series "Farscape" produced by Hensons.

"Farscape" has been a monumental project for Guy keeping him busy for over three years culminating in a big budget television Mini Series “Farscape - Peacekeeper Wars” which enabled him to enlist the services of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and personally conduct the 140 strong orchestra and choir to create one of his largest film scores to-date. The project has spun off five currently available Soundtrack Albums.

In 2001, following in his father’s footsteps, Guy directed his first animated TV series called "Old Tom" (52 x 1/4 hours) for ABC television in which he wrote a number of the stories and scored the entire series. He has since written, scored, produced, and directed the animated television special “Blinky Bill’s White Christmas” which featured his song “Christmas in Australia” performed by Christine Anu who was invited to perform Guy’s song at that year’s “Carols in the Domain”.

Guy is a director and partner of Trackdown Digital, one of Australia’s leading film music and audio service providers. They specialize in recording, editing, producing and mixing music for film and television and includes Australia’s largest purpose built Orchestral Scoring Stage located adjacent to Fox Studios (Trackdown Scoring Stage - TSS) capable of comfortably recording a 100 piece orchestra plus choir.

In 2006, after a year at the creative helm of his family’s Animation Studio, and following the sale of this company, Guy returned to his first love, film scoring which he does from his composing suite inside the Trackdown complex adjacent to Fox Studios.

Always active in the pursuit of improved conditions for composers, Guy is currently the Vice President of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) in which he has been a member since it's current formation.
